Profile of Beichen
The name Beichen comes from the Analects of Confucius, which says "He who exercises government by means of his virtue may be compared to the north polar star, which keeps its place and all the stars turn towards it."
Beichen is located to the north of the city proper of Tianjin and is an important and integral point of Beijing-Tianjin Golden Economic Corridor and Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu High and New Technology Industrial Belt. It has become a supporting area and economic development area for the Tianjin Binhai New Area (BHNA) for a large amount of overseas and domestic capital to pour in. By now, it has become an important economic development belt and supporting zone of BHNA.  Beichen has a permanent population of 32,000, and transit population of over 300,000, covering 480 square kilometers with 9 towns and 4 neighborhoods.

It is 100 km to Beijing Capital Airport, 45 km to Tianjin Port, the largest port in North China, 15 km to the air cargo center, Tianjin Binhai International Airport. Tianjin Airport Industrial Park is just across a river. 6 expressways, such as Jingjintang, Jingfu, Jinyu, Jingbao, Jinghu, Jinhu are all accessiable and 8 state highways such as the Jingjin, Jinyu, Jinba, Jinwei pass through. Jingshan, Jinji, Jingjiu and a Jing-Jin intercity railways pass through the territory of Beichen. The largest Nancang marshalling yard, the largest of its kind in North China is located in Beichen. 7 out of 9 metro lines pass Beichen or have stations nearby. Beichen has become an area which opened to the outside earliest, where return on investment is the highest, where the economy is the most dynamic.
Industrial Development
As a traditional industrial base, Beichen has sound supply base for industrial production and abundant human resources. Up to date, there are over 6,000 overseas and domestic companies in the District, forming 6 industrial sectors, i.e. Electrical-mechanical industry as represented by LG Electronic, Sampo Enterprise and Suli Cable; Bioengineering and pharmaceutical industry as represented by Tasly , No.6 TCM, Merlin Medicine; Metallurgical industry as represented by Shuangjie Steel Pipe Company and Zhongzhong & Zhongzhi Technology Engineering; Automotive component industry as represented by Takaoka Lieho, Toyotsu, Advics; rubber and plastics industry as represented by Chenshin Group , Bridgestone and Wanda Tyre; Equipment Manufacturing industry as represented by Perkins Lovol Engines and Jiangtian Heavy Industry, etc…Modern service industry is developing rapidly. A number of markets specializing in steel products, automotives, and agricultural products have been formed. Tianmu Steel Logistic Park has become the largest steel distribution center. Wal-Mart, North Aquatic Products Center, Tobacco Distribution Center are introduced and developing rapidly. Development Strategy
Beichen has one state-level Industrial Park, two provincial-level industry parks and seven township industry parks, which all provide abundant land resource for investors to grow.
1.The Beichen Hi-tech Industrial Park
Founded in 1992, the State-level Beichen Hi-tech Industrial Park is one of 54 Hi-tech Parks approved by the State Council is an important part of Jing-Jin_Tang Expressway Hi-tech Industry Belt in the Bohai Rim. The total planning area of the Park is 18.73 square kilometers. The infrastructure of the Park has reached “nine connections and one leveling”. Administration for Industry & Commerce, Tax Bureau, Police, Fire Bureau, Finance, Custom, Law firms, Credit Guarantee Center all has offices in the Park. So far, more than 200 foreign-invested companies from 23 countries like the US, Germany, ROK, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan have settled, including 16 such Fortune 500 companies as Siemens, Wal-Mart, LG and Alcoa. The Park has become the most attractive area for foreign investment, and a park with the highest return on investment in Tianjin.
2.Township Industry Park with Distinct Features
1）Yinxingbu Town Industry Park
Located in the central part of Beichen, the Park covers a total area of 3.14 square kilometers, 18,000 square meters of ready-built factory building available for lease. This Park is focusing on machine-building, electric appliance and pharmaceutical industries.
The Park is located in the east of Beichen District. The total planning area is approximately 3 square kilometer. Factory building available for lease is 55,000 square meters. Pharmaceutical, electronic industrial clusters have been formed in the Park.
2）Tianmu Town Industry Park
The Park is located in the east of Beichen District. The total planning area is approximately 3 square kilometer. Factory building available for lease is 55,000 square meters. Pharmaceutical, electronic industrial clusters have been formed in the Park.
3）Beicang Town Industry Park
The Park is located at the place where the District government is situated, with a total planning area of 2 square kilometers. Leading industries are electro-information, mechanical-electrical integration, and new materials, bio-pharmaceutical.
4）Shuangjie Town Industry Park
The Park is located in the central part of Beichen District, with a total planning area of 2.1 square kilometers. Currently, 4 industrial groups, i.e. precision machinery, cable, new building materials, metallurgical processing have been formed.
5）Xiaodian Town Industry Park
The Park is located in the central part of Beichen District. Total planning area of the Park is 3.17 square kilometers. The town is now endeavoring to build a Park with light industry , new building material and automotive components as its leading industry.
6）Dazhangzhuang Town Industry Park
Located in the east part of Beichen District, the Park has a total planning area of approximately 4 square kilometers.The leading industries are mechanical-electrical, new building material and hard wares.
7）Shuangkou Town Industry Park
The Park is located in the east part of Beichen District. It is a provincial-level development area approved by the State Council, with a total planning area of 3.6 square kilometers. The Park gives priority to the development of electronic-information, mechanical-mechanical integration, bio-pharmaceutical, new material and environmental protection sectors.
8）Xiditou Town Industry Park
This industry Park is located in the east part of Beichen and is adjacent to the Tianjin Binhai New Area (BHNA),with a  total planning area is 6.03 square kilometers. Such leading industrial clusters as equipment manufacturing and rubber & plastic products have been formed.
9）Qingguang Town Industry Park
The Park is located in the west part of Beichen. Total planning area is 4 square kilometers. The Park endeavors to develop automotive components, mechanical and electronic industries and cultivate industrial clusters with regional completive advantages.
Governmental Environment
Firmly establishing the ideal of "environment is economy",we constantly improve the infrastructure like the roads, water supply, drainage and power supply so as to build an excellent "hardware". The land of Beichen Hi-tech Industrial Park has reached "9 connections and one leveling", while the land of the township industry parks has reached "7 connections and one leveling". Power supply is abundant. There are 70 sub-transformer stations in the District. Xinkaihe Waterworks and a LPG station with a capacity of 320 tons are established. Digital communication and the internet are well developed, providing investors with efficient development carriers. Tianjin Commercial University, Tianjin Vocational University, Hebei University of Technology, Tianchen Chemical Engineering and Tianjin Cement Design Institute are all located in Beichen. 50,000 senior technical professionals and more than 300,000 skilled workers, whose education is above senior high school, provide abundant pool of labor for enterprises.
